Frozen stiff
Not a figure of speech
In high desert winter
They found you
Not so hidden
But already far away
Victim of
Unrelenting bitterness
She handed that gun right over to you
Hospitable old gal
Gracious when you claimed
He’d offered to lend it
She hates to think of it now
Knowing she helped you
In ways she would never
Knowing she was
Unknowingly
Bidden
This country asks
That you not ask
